My name is Cheri Relph.  My husband calls me the “Road Warrior” because I have a passion to experience the magnificent beauty of nature; I seem to always be planning a trip or on the go to get there.  I try to live life to the fullest and enjoy every possible moment of it with a positive attitude.  Two of my favorite quotes by Helen Keller are:  “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing” and “keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow”

I have been teaching for twelve years and the grades that I’ve taught are 1st, 2nd, and combination classes of 1st and 2nd, also a 2nd and 3rd grade combination class.  Watching my students grow and learn each day brings a true joy to my soul.  Of course, each year there are always those amazing situations where I learn something extra special from them!  My son Elijah has attended Chrysalis for the past three years, so my first experience with Chrysalis was as a parent volunteer.  Our family has always enjoyed the family feeling at Chrysalis and we especially enjoy the annual campouts.

I am in a teacher rock band named “Extra Credit” with my husband and a few other fellow friends.  I love to write songs and use them daily in my classroom to make the state standards more fun and meaningful to my students.  Many times the lyrics are of a personal nature to add a smile to each child’s face just for the plain fun-of-it! One song that I like to start the day with is a song called “I was created for a special purpose”.  It reminds the kids that each of them is created for a special purpose, to go far in life and to walk in kindness.

Living that balance of teaching and making learning fun at each student’s developmental level is a gift that is truly only experienced in the type of environment that Chrysalis has to offer each of our students!
