I’m excited to join the staff of Chrysalis as the Home School Coordinator, just as my own two sons are completing their home school years and starting college.  What a great place to use my experience, my love of learning and of families to help others achieve their dreams of being directly involved in bringing a quality education to their children.

My educational background includes degrees in Biology, Environmental Education and a Life Science teaching credential.  I’ve taught in the classroom for 6 years, as an outdoor educational field instructor for 3 years, and as a Home School Facilitator for 3 years.  I home schooled my own children first as an independent home schooler, then through a charter school until they graduated.  Both my husband and I became teachers because we love learning, and we wanted our kids to enjoy the process of learning, to see it as an integral part of life.  We felt the individualized attention and curriculum choices available though home schooling was the best option we had, and all four of us are thankful we pursued it.  I’m glad to be able to use the things I’ve learned along the way to make Home Schooling a successful option for others making that choice.

Other loves: my husband of nearly 25 years, Mel; sailing, kayaking, canoeing or most anything on or in the water; music, beauty, plants, traveling, making things, hiking, cooking, rain, photography.
