Twin Drainage Play - Third View
Feb. 21, 2009 - The end of my diversion channel is located in the green gap at the top of the picture about 1/5 of the way from the left side towards the center. In the first moderate rains, all of the diverged water stayed on the ridge top and sank into the ground. It will be interesting to see what happens due to this accumulation of water here. I anticipate that vegetation will become more abundant in this area. But there might be other effects. Seeps emerging on the sides of drainages. Longer low flows of water in the drainages nourishing plants that need to root into a water supply that lasts longer. Or, an abundance of gopher tunnels that end up leading the water off the plateau and back into the drainage.
