Class Store Items Wanted
DONATIONS WANTED!! All year students have been earning and saving up Caught-Ya’s for good behavior, turning in homework on time, etc. (hopefully not earning too many fines). In the Spring we will open the class store again and the students will be able to spend some of their hard earned money! We still need donations for our class store so that we will have an ample selection of items for the students to purchase. Donations can be small inexpensive items. Some good places to find items are Dollar Stores, Michaels Craft Store (dollar bin areas are great), Target (dollar bins) or online at Oriental Trading Co. (toys, trinkets). Even children’s yard sale items (gently used in great shape still) that your child has grown out of that you think other children might still enjoy would be great. You can send the items to school in a bag labeled STORE ITEMS and we can add them to the store. The students treasure this day and we like to make the experience special for them. Thanks for your help!22.01.2012. 19:58

We have an amazing group of students and are off to a wonderful school year! I look forward to meeting with you at the parent meeting on Thursday! 1st Day of School Activity: We Are Family
Building community is a huge goal for me each school year. I want my students to feel as if they are part of a close-knit family when they are in my classroom. To help students get to know each other and really feel as though they are brothers and sisters, I would like them to bring a baby picture to school on the first day. I request that they put it in an envelope so that other classmates do not see the picture. I will create a bulletin board in our classroom entitled "Who's That Baby?" Please send in a picture that is a copy of the original just in case of wear and tear on the bulletin board. Each baby picture will be on the board along with a number. After the pictures are up for a week or so, students will be given a blank sheet of paper. They number the paper and try to guess each baby. It is fun for the students, and it creates a sense of family to have all of their baby pictures hanging in our classroom.22.07.2011. 13:35

School Supplies
I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer break. As I look around at the stores lately, I already see some great Back to School sales. Some must haves for at home school supplies that are needed for book reports, homework, and home projects I suggest are:Skinny black Sharpies (used for outlining)
Colored pencils
Pencil sharpener
Highlighters (yellow preferred)
Pencils (#2)
Red ballpoint pen (used for editing)
Index cards (study tool)
Bring to school item: 2 pocket folders (need about 2-3 any style, used for graded work to go home in)
Glue Stick (Elmer's usually works best)
Crayons with sharpener
Lined paper (wide ruled)
Scissors (Fiskars work very well)
Bring to school item: Backpack
Reading Reminder: I hope everyone has been reading this summer break. If you haven't made it to the Shasta County Library yet, make sure you set some time aside to get there. Help your child find a series or some chapter books they could really be interested in to start for the next school year. Start a list that you can work your way down of books your child would like to read. Don't forget to encourage them to venture out to different genres: biographies, fantasy, informational, poetry, realistic fiction, mystery, traditional literature, science fiction, autobiography.
